The thermal single-shot valve was developed for the project of the MOMA
(Mars Organic Molecule Analyser) instrument which is part of the ExoMars rover payload.
The valve provides gas tightness at pressures up to 50 bar and opens at
a temperature of 185°C, which can be reached by electrical heating.
The inside of the valve only consist of metallic parts, the device
is lightweight (6.6 g), and has the ability to withstand the temperature
of the dry heat sterilisation process.
These properties make the valve especilally suitable for scientific
space experiments, but also microthrusters and systems where high
pressure gas control is needed.
